Nieuwe Haarlem Pinotage 2021

Nieuwe Haarlem Pinotage, Coastal Region. Pinotage is a cross between Syrah and Pinot Noir, and there seems to be a love hate relationship with it. If it is not well made it can exude rubber tire aromas, this one I assure you is not one of those. Whole-cluster fermented and aged for 12 months in French oak, it smells of plums and chocolate. The black fruit flavors are outlined with hints of coffee and exotic spice. I hear duck breast calling my name.

The bouquet is led by roasted bananas, cherries and cassis, followed by subtle notes of chocolate and cedar wood. The palate has a complex, velvety coating with hints of plum and fruity sweetness on the finish.
